watch out for that lava.

On Tuesday we climbed into the back of a pickup truck and drove to the foot of Mombacho, a nearby volcano. We hiked to the top of the volcano, which was sometimes so steep we couldn’t stand up straight. Some girls found it easier to crawl on all fours than lean forward and hike like a hunchback. We found out later that pretty much EVERYONE takes the shuttle to the top – whoops. Even so, I’m glad we did it the hard way.

I don’t have any pictures of the actual volcano (you can google it), but the last two are a view from the top:
